The recognition comes through the Bescheinigungsstelle Forschungszulage (BSFZ) as part of Germany’s Forschungszulage certification process. The BSFZ evaluates whether the research and development activities submitted by companies meet the applicable criteria under Germany’s Research Allowance Act (Forschungszulagengesetz).

What Does the BSFZ-Siegel Mean?
The BSFZ-Siegel recognizes companies that have received at least one positive certification decision from the Bescheinigungsstelle Forschungszulage (BSFZ) for their R&D activities.
The seal can be issued in two variants, depending on how the certified R&D activities were conducted:
- Red BSFZ-Siegel: associated with R&D projects carried out wholly or partly within the company, providing evidence of in-house R&D activity.
- Orange BSFZ-Siegel: associated with R&D projects carried out entirely through commissioned research.
NAV IT has received the red BSFZ-Siegel.
This means that the certified R&D activities associated with the relevant project included work carried out within NAV IT itself.
The recognition should therefore be understood as confirmation of the relevant R&D activity, rather than as a product certification, software approval, or quality certification for Orion.
